The College of Music was originally a division of the faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, offering a Bachelor of Arts program in Musical Art. Recognized for its efficiency in producing graduates with expertise in modern and folk music. The department has recently become an independent faculty undergraduate its current name with extended functions and objectives. The college offers an undergraduate program in musical art as well as master’s and doctoral degree programs in the same field. The college also operates a pre-university program equivalent to an upper secondary school level as a choice for high school students wishing to specialize in musical art but closed the program in 2016. The college supervises a number of proficient string and string-combo band, Isan folk music groups and also trains and organizes the highly-regarded MSO or Mahasarakham Symphony Orchestra, the only in the northeastern region of Thailand.
